Maurits Masselink – Open Science and Qualitative Research

February 27, 2023 @ 15:00 - 16:30

During this discussion session, we will ask the question what Open Science means for Qualitative researchers. The terminology in Open Science is often quite quantitative, which makes sense from a replication crisis perspective. However, the result is that it is not always clear how qualitative researchers could participate in, benefit from, and contribute to Open Science. Maurits Masselink, co-founder of Open Science Community Groningen (OSCG), will visit to have an open discussion and think together about what Open Science might mean from a qualitative perspective. We invite you to think along with us during this interactive session on how the two might inform each other, and work together towards more transparent science.

If you are already curious and want to get inspired, have a look at these two qualitative projects that won the Open Research Awards of 2022: one on ‘the postcolonial present’ as experienced by Indo-Europeans (Indonesian-Dutch ancestry) in the Netherlands and one on Preregistering qualitative research.
